In this posting, I would like to introduce the possibility and application of Psychotherapy of VR. VR technology was first created through a simulated flight program for U.S pilots for Vietnam war in mid-1960. Military Logistics Logistics is the father of the virtual reality technology we experience today, and so far the US Department of Defense financial support has made an important contribution to the history of early VR. In the mid-1960s, VR was a way of moving virtual space by leaning against a giant video simulation machine that looked like a vision-checking machine at the optometrist. The design of HMD Head Mount Display, which we are using today, is known to have been designed by game companies such as Nintendo in the early 90's as a subsidiary's console in VR format, so the history of VR through HMD has also begun. In the early 2000s, Creative Technologies, a research institute of VR at the University of Southern California, with support of the US Navy, created t...
This is text from my presentation for Network symposia of Excursion journal at University of Sussex. http://www.ex cursions-journal.org.uk/ Virtual Reality Theater as Intertextual Practice Immersion and interactivity are two the most important issues surrounding virtual reality. I am interested in the impact of the immersive image paradigm on contemporary media culture and the meaning of this new paradigm from the perspective of media evolution. My work is also concerned with the applicability of virtual reality as a medium for documenting historical events. As a practice of this academic investigation, I will discuss the relationship between the theater stage and virtual reality. The relationship between the theater and the space embodied by virtual reality has been dealt with as an important topic from the very beginning of the medium’s history. Early virtual reality experiments are characterized by a reconnection of the Cartesian world and self, and the matter and eg...
